The Crafting of Historical Knowledge will take place at Rice University (6100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77005).
The main venues for the conference will be the Kyle Morrow Room in Fondren Library and the Humanities Building.
The Kyle Morrow Room is located in the 3rd floor of Fondren Library. Enter through Fondren’s main entrance and take the elevator to the left of the entrance to the third floor. Signs will be posted around campus directing to location.

Travel to Houston
Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Hobby (HOU) are Houston’s two main airports. Uber, Lyft, or SuperShuttle can be used to getting to the Houston Medical Center which host hotels at a convenient distance from Rice.
Hotels
We strongly encourage presents to book a hotel in the Houston Medical Center area as it is close to Rice University. Following are two hotels that you may wish to consider.
- Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center (6633 Travis St, Houston, TX 77030) [.5 miles from Rice]
- Wyndham Houston-Medical Center Hotel & Suites (6800 Main St, Houston, TX 77030) [.7 miles from Rice]
Presenters can use Uber or Lyft as transportation from hotels to campus.
Rice University’s bus transportation also regularly runs through the Houston Medical Center and makes a stop in front of the Humanities Building. Presenters can use the bus tracker to locate pickup and drop off points in the Texas Medical Center. If staying at the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center stops BRC 8 and BRC 18 would be the closest. If taking advantage of Rice’s bus transportation system be aware that the Texas Medical Center/BRC route only run Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 5:45 pm.
