Dr. Andrés Reséndez, Professor of History at the University of California, Davis

The Crafting of Historical Knowledge conference is delighted to host Dr. Reséndez is Professor of History at UC Davis as one of our featured keynote speakers. Dr. Reséndez is the author of  Changing National Identities at the Frontier: Texas and New Mexico, 1800-1850 (Cambridge University Press, 2005),  A Land So Strange: The Epic Journey of Cabeza de Vaca (Basic Books, 2007), and The Other Slavery: The Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2016).

Dr. Keila Grinberg and Dr. Mônica Lima e Souza, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

The Crafting of Historical Knowledge conference is delighted to host Dr. Grinberg and Dr. Lima who will be giving a joint keynote address on their project Passados Presentes. Dr. Grinberg is an Associate Professor at UFRJ. She is the author of O fiador dos brasileiros: cidadania, escravidão e direito civil no tempo de Antonio Pereira Rebouças (Civilização Brasileira, 2002) which is currently being translated into English by UNC Press. Dr. Mônica Lima e Souza is Professor of African History at UFRJ. Dr. Lima also coordinates the Laboratório de Estudos Africanos at UFRJ.
